A guide to care and cost
Selank doctor: what are you paying for?
A guide to understanding care and its costs before you pay.
In the US, medicine reviews are handled by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
As of September 30, 2026, it has not approved Selank.

What Selank actually is
Selank is a peptide: a short chain of building blocks like those that make up proteins.
- It was developed in Russia for anxiety.
- The summaries of the small Russian anxiety studies describe no group given a dummy treatment. A dummy treatment has no active medicine.
- Those studies do not settle whether it helps more than no treatment.
A prescription does not settle the rules
Compounding is when a medicine is prepared to order for one patient.
- On September 30, 2026, Selank was missing from the FDA list of substances that pharmacies can use for medicines prepared to order.
- The FDA’s page, current on April 22, 2026, says a request to allow Selank in medicines made to order was taken back. The people or groups who made the request took it back.
- Taking back that request did not give a pharmacy permission to use Selank. It did not give Selank FDA approval.
Start with the whole bill
A low advertised price may leave out some charges. Ask for a written breakdown before judging the total.
- What does the first visit cost, even if no medicine is prescribed?
- Are any tests, later visits or messages charged separately?
- If a membership fee repeats, what does it pay for and how does it end?
Find care for the problem you have
Anxiety can be the starting point of the conversation; Selank does not need to be the starting demand.
- Consider a visit in person or an online medical visit, called telehealth.
- Ask what treatments with better evidence have been considered for your symptoms.
- Use the state medical board’s public record to check the doctor’s licence. Also look for actions the board took against the doctor for breaking its rules.
