A guide to care and cost
Read the record. See the limits.
Start with the question each record answers. Then read what it leaves open.
US approval and the price gap
In the US, medicine reviews are handled by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
- A search of the FDA’s records of approved medicines found no US Selank product on September 30, 2026.
- With no approved US product, there is no published price from a US maker or government source for this guide to report.
What taking back a request means
The FDA says on its page, current on April 22, 2026, that a request to allow pharmacies to use Selank was taken back. The people or groups who made that request took it back.
- The FDA still warns about possible harm from Selank. Taking back the request did not give permission to use it in medicines made to order.
- The FDA warns that Selank may form clumps or contain unwanted material. For some ways of giving it, these may make the body treat it as an invader. The FDA entry does not name those ways.
- On September 30, 2026, Selank was absent from the FDA’s final list of substances for making medicines to order. It was also absent from the FDA groups used while substances wait for a final decision.
What the patient studies can show
A dummy treatment, also called a placebo, has no active medicine. It gives researchers a comparison for a drug.
- A Russian anxiety study from 2008 included 62 people and compared Selank with medazepam, an older anxiety drug.
- The summary says anxiety improved about the same with each drug. It describes no group given a dummy treatment.
- A Russian study from 2015 gave 70 people phenazepam, an older anxiety drug; some also received Selank.
- That summary says people who also received Selank responded sooner. It too describes no group given a dummy treatment.
- The English summaries do not say clearly how people were put into groups or kept from knowing which treatment they got. Without those details, it is hard to tell whether the comparison was fair.
Check a doctor and a pharmacy
Use public licence records as a check on identity and permission to practise.
- The state medical board records a doctor’s licence and actions it took against the doctor for breaking its rules. If no action is listed, that alone cannot show how good the doctor’s care is.
- For a proposed medicine, ask which pharmacy prepares it and which pharmacy sends it.
- A pharmacy licence shows that the pharmacy has permission to work. It is not proof that each medicine the pharmacy supplies is lawful or right for your symptoms. Ask the doctor and pharmacy about the proposed medicine.

The medical boards’ telehealth document offers guidance; the rules that govern a visit come from the state where it happens.
Recognise a severe reaction
MedlinePlus describes severe allergic reactions and when to get emergency help.
- Difficulty breathing and tongue swelling are among the signs it lists.
